FLORANCE NIGHTINGALE

FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE The name of the school is dedicated to this brave lady. The lady who changed the world.

Florence Nightingale was the founder of the modern nursing. She used to be presented as the sanity " Lady with the Lamp ", moving among the wounded in the Crimean War of 1854.

But She was much more than this. She was a tough, resourceful women, whose fight to get better condition in hospitals won her respect thoroughout the world. For years her family stopped her from becoming a nurse, because nurses had such a bad reputation: they were regarded as the dregs of society, given to drink and prostitution.

Florence Nightingale changed all this. She plunged into pioneering research and became Britain's expert on every aspect of hospital care. She took on the military leaders and government ministers who opposed her reforms. For fifty years, she worked tirelessly both for nurses, and for several other suffering groups in society.

By the time she died, she has achieved a transformation. Hospital are clean, life saving places and nursing had become the respected skilled profession at it today.
